Early Treatment
Early Treatment
When is the best time to begin orthodontics?
The benefit of an early orthodontic evaluation is that the orthodontist has the opportunity to detect and provide interceptive treatment if it is required.
Early treatment occurs when children still have a mixture of primary (also known as baby or milk teeth) and permanent teeth. Some patients can begin treatment as early as 8 – 10 years old. This means that we are able to guide growth and development which may prevent more serious problems later on. Early treatment may also achieve results that are not possible once the face and jaws have stopped growing.
