After your orthodontic treatment it takes time for the bone and connective tissues surrounding your teeth to rebuild in their new position. This means your orthodontic treatment is not over! It is imperative to use the retainer we provide you with until your bite and teeth stabilize. Typically, we recommend a period of full time after school or work hours wear followed by night time only wear for up to 24-36 months. After this the retainer wear can gradually be reduced to limited wear indefinitely.

Our teeth continue to move throughout our lifetime as part of the natural ageing process therefore a lifetime of appropriate good retainer wear will ensure a lifetime of straight teeth.
