Whether you’re looking for a subtle way to improve your smile, a flexible option that suits a busy lifestyle, or a comfortable alternative to fixed appliances, our specialist orthodontic team will help you decide if clear aligners are the right choice for you.

Why Choose Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are a proven, effective option for a wide range of orthodontic concerns, including:

  • Crowded or overlapping teeth that are difficult to clean
  • Gaps and spacing between teeth
  • Mild to moderate bite issues, including overbites, underbites and crossbites
  • Tooth relapse after previous orthodontic treatment
  • Minor alignment concerns ahead of restorative work such as crowns or veneers
  • Adults seeking discreet treatment without the appearance of traditional braces

The benefits of clear aligner treatment

  • Virtually invisible. Made from clear, medical-grade plastic, aligners are barely noticeable when worn, making them ideal for professionals, students and anyone who prefers a subtle option.
  • Removable for everyday life. You can take your aligners out to eat, drink, brush and floss, meaning no food restrictions and no changes to your oral hygiene routine.
  • Comfortable by design. With no brackets or wires, aligners sit smoothly against the lips and cheeks, avoiding the irritation sometimes associated with fixed appliances.
  • Fewer clinic visits. Thanks to digital planning and remote monitoring options, many patients need fewer in-person appointments throughout their treatment.
  • Predictable, planned results. Your entire treatment is mapped out in advance using 3D software, so you can preview your new smile before you even begin.
Life With Clear Aligners

How Clear Aligners Work

Clear aligners work by applying gentle, controlled pressure to move your teeth in small, precise stages. Each stage brings you one step closer to your final result. The system is made up of three key elements:

  1. A digital treatment plan based on a 3D scan of your teeth, which maps every movement from start to finish
  2. A series of custom made aligners, each slightly different to the last, designed to shift your teeth one step at a time
  3. Small tooth coloured attachments, bonded to certain teeth where extra grip is needed for more complex movements

Each set of aligners is typically worn for one to two weeks before progressing to the next in the series. For treatment to be successful, aligners must be worn between 20 and 22 hours a day and only removed for eating, drinking anything other than water, and cleaning your teeth. Consistent wear is the single biggest factor in how quickly and successfully your treatment progresses.

Most aligner treatments take between 6 and 18 months, although simpler cases can finish sooner and more complex cases may take longer.

5 Simple Steps

Your Treatment Journey

1
Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a thorough assessment. We’ll examine your teeth and bite, take digital photographs, and use a 3D intraoral scanner (and, where needed, X-rays) to build a complete picture of your orthodontic health. Your orthodontist will then discuss whether clear aligners are the right option for your goals.

2
Personalised Treatment Plan

Using your 3D scan, your orthodontist will design a step by step plan tailored to your case. You’ll be shown a digital preview of how your teeth will move throughout treatment, along with the expected duration, total number of aligners and a transparent quote with interest free payment plans available.

3
Fitting Your Aligners

Once your aligners arrive, we’ll check the fit of your first set, bond any small attachments required for your treatment, and guide you through how to insert, remove and care for your aligners at home. You’ll also receive a clear schedule showing exactly when to progress to each new set.

4
Progress Reviews

You’ll visit us every 8 to 12 weeks so we can monitor your progress, provide your next series of aligners, and make any refinements needed. For suitable patients, we can also offer remote monitoring through a smartphone app, reducing the need for in person appointments.

5
Completion and Retention

Once your teeth have reached their ideal positions, we’ll remove any attachments, polish your teeth smooth and fit you with retainers. Retainers are essential for protecting your new smile, holding your teeth in place while the surrounding bone and ligaments settle.
